A fun and fruity sugar alternative!

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Date sugar is a healthy alternative to regular sugar; however, the date flavour in this powder is very strong! That’s why I decided to add berries to my brownies. With only one ingredient (organic dates), this sugar substitute contains 1g of fibre per teaspoon! Tasty and nutritious! I enjoyed this sweetener in my berry brownies and would use it again for similar uses. On its own, I don’t like the flavour, but in a recipe it is definitely a win!

Berry brownies recipe

1/2 cup melted butter

1 1/2 cup date sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup flour

Pinch of salt

Handful of fresh assorted berries

Mix together all wet ingredients first, and then gradually add in all dry ingredients. Spread evenly into a pre-buttered pan. Push in the berries and bake in a preheated oven at 350F for 25 minutes.
