Springtime Reflections

Ever look at someone else's photos and start to feel bad about yourself? You start to compare your life to their curated photos and decide that you are inferior to them? The next time you see a photo or meet someone new that makes you feel "less than", look for things you admire about that person, then do the same for yourself. It's not about ignoring your insecurities. Humans have insecurities; it's one of the many things that make us in fact human. The key here is shifting your mindset. What do you admire about yourself, whether physical or non-physical? See how this mindset shift makes you feel.

Every human has struggled to some degree with their body image. But what if body image was a non-issue? If we eliminate the concept of body image all together then perhaps we can truly enjoy life. Find the joy in movement, the joy in food, and let go of everything else that doesn't serve you.

Over the past few weeks I've been making an effort to get to know my students on a more personal level. I asked them how working out makes them feel and their answers warmed my heart so much.

Stress-reliever; magical; energizing; comfortable; capable; proud; confident; satisfied; fabulous. These are the words they used to describe how fitness feels for them. I mean, does this not make your heart just burst?!

Fitness doesn't have to be a chore, and it doesn't have to be so heavily focused on what you look like either! I am so proud that many of my students have found body neutrality, or are actively working towards it, and if you join my community you could finally be at peace with your body too! The time is now!
